DESIGN AS A TOOL FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

We actively share our research and design explorations with the community through dynamic programming. By incorporating design into hands-on activities, workshops, talks, exhibitions, and activations, we introduce circular concepts and methods in an accessible and understandable way for everyone in our community – from individuals to businesses and organizations.

Workschops

From theory to fabrication, the lab empowers communities by fostering creative confidence through hands-on making. We offer workshops that teach circular creation methods, addressing the linear economy with sustainable alternatives.

Talks

Democratizing the learnings of design and sharing knowledge through conversation. An opportunity for diverse voices and experiences to share lived experience.

Exhibitions

Accessible to all, our exhibitions serve as a continuation of our ongoing research and diverse collaborations with individuals, businesses, and organizations. These exhibitions are open to the public, providing a platform to showcase the insights and discoveries of the lab.

FALL 2024

Workshop Series: Sneakers

Fee: Sliding Scale

Our two-day sneaker-making workshop is designed to be a low barrier introduction to sustainable shoe making.

This workshop is designed to simplify the sneaker-making process, eliminating the high costs associated with traditional shoemaking. Developed by Nelson Silva, a Toronto-based industrial designer and footwear industry expert, this innovative approach aims to make sneaker design more accessible and environmentally friendly. It's a step toward active participation in the circular economy. Participants will learn shoemaking techniques from an industry expert and create a custom prototype using reclaimed materials and soles provided by our partners at Mellow Walk Footwear.

If you or your group are interested, please let us know your preferred days and times. We'll keep you updated on workshop scheduling. Looking forward to connecting!
